Calling internet freedom as "culturally inappropriate" makes you a dumbass

Bashing Govt In Blogs Not Malaysian Culture - Rais

KUALA LUMPUR Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Bloggers should evaluate themselves before indulging in an unhealthy culture of bashing others, (Everyone's a critic you shithead) including government leaders, through their blogsites, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said.

He said although government bashing in the blogsites was among the challenges faced by the Barisan Nasional (BN) in facing the general election, it was not the nature of BN leaders to resort to using blogsites to attack others in their campaigns to win the elections. (Yeah because BN is now filled with old farts and youthgoat pussies who endorses Mat Rempits rather than Bloggers like us)

"They (bloggers) condemn the prime minister, ministers and other members of the administration but not themselves.
As the Malay adage goes, it's pointing the forefinger to the front and thumb to your chest. (I always criticise myself Rais! As a Melbourne shuffler myself, i'm not really good and i'm not the best compared to Zaqir, or Megat or Shaheila, but atleast i'm better than the Dutch).

"I am saying that you should look at your own heart to see if it is clean. If it is not, then don't bash others in your blogs," he said after launching a book and compact disc, "Aku Dia dan Lagu-Lagu Nostalgia", by Yusnor Ef at Aswara (National Arts, Culture and Heritage Academy) here today. (Look, this is a democracy. People have the right to bash other people. Oh, and Yusnor Ef sucks ass)

"Nowadays, not only the bloggers are having a mental block (disturbed) but the PAS' spiritual leader's mind too is blocked (unstable) when he equated Umno members to orang utan. (Woah, so you're saying that we are mentally unstable, and yet we don't have the right to criticise you? And what's worse is that you're comparing us to those theocratic pricks from PAS. Nice logic you douchebag.).

"The bloggers are getting bolder, but I see it this way -- the general election is the season for condemning or "killing" others with words but this is not BN culture. I suggest that they attend courses on good manners as good manners is Malaysian culture." (We do have good manners. In public, we show respect to our parents, our neighbours and go the mosque and pray, but in blogs we're here to show our escapism and truth from our own eyes. Respect and manners do not mix well with the internet my friend.)

Here's a logic: If bloggers are culturally inappropriate, then freedom of speech, democracy and the internet are also culturally inappropriate. What is culturally appropriate?

When a person is angry, they will say horrible things and words like bakul, mangkok, monyet are quite common. More common are the four letter words and really foul language ... you guys know what I mean.

It is simple way of expressing anger without resorting to physical attacks. Don't take it to heart, we grow up calling names at people and many of us have also been called many different names. Just behave better and maybe Tok Nik would stop calling UMNO orang utan.

Just be thankful he did not use more harsh words which is more commonly used by many Malaysians including Minister Rais.

Also, blogging is good, we are able to express our views that could not be aired in any other ways. Whether it is the truth or allegations, it will be sorted out in due time. Also, don't worry, the truth will prevail. We have seen it happening over and over again.

PS: I know i've stolen those last pieces from an anonymous comment in Marina Mahathir's blog. Well, bite me then.
